Improving care for all patients requires enhancing health improvement strategies with best practices that simultaneously reduce disparities. To support these efforts, a practical process is needed for collecting data on existing improvement interventions to track over time. To this end, Edmond Ramly, PhD, and Maureen Smith, MD, PhD, MPH, developed the Disparities Improvement Grid (DIG) tool. The DIG tool offers health systems a practical and evidence-based menu of best practices to incorporate disparities reduction into specific health system activities and serves as a tracking tool.
