Wisconsin has some of the highest quality health care in the country; however, with routine care significantly disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, providers are increasingly concerned that patients are falling behind in important preventive health and chronic disease care.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, UW-Madison researchers within the School of Medicine and Public Health are quickly adapting to support Wisconsin health officials. Researchers at the Health Innovation Program (HIP), who have been working to improve health care using electronic health record data voluntarily provided by over 20 Wisconsin health systems through the Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ), have mobilized to determine how they could rapidly use these data to help those on the front line of the battle against COVID-19 to support the direction of efforts towards the places in Wisconsin that need it most.

The Wisconsin Collaborative for Healthcare Quality (WCHQ) Board of Directors today named Gabrielle Rude, PhD, successor to President/CEO Chris Queram, effective next January 2021. Queram, who announced he will step aside at the end of the year, has led WCHQ since 2005.

WCHQ is excited to bring together two recognized thought leaders to provide their perspectives on who will be influencing health care access, payment and policy over the next few years. Both presenters are focused on improving access and increasing the affordability of health care, which aligns with WCHQ’s Board-approved initiative to accelerate the value of health care in Wisconsin.
